As physician integration and hospital employment are here to stay,
consulting firm expands team to meet demand

October 4, 2011 – COLUMBUS, Ohio – With combined experience of more than 55 years in healthcare, Thomas Hanrahan, MHA, FACHE, and Penny Thompson, CPC, have joined the growing team of experts in physician practice management consulting at Halley Consulting Group, a firm serving hospital, hospital system and private practice physician clients nationwide. The firm has hired eight of their current 25 employees within the past year.

“Our growth is due to our success on the ground level,” said Marc Halley, president and CEO of Halley Consulting Group. “The Halley Consulting Group’s competitive advantage is that we aren’t just consultants, we are actually ‘in the trenches’. We are implementers who have worked as leaders and we put our efforts toward truly managing change in hospitals and medical practices – a challenge many other consultants avoid.”

Coming on board as a network executive for the company, Hanrahan brings experience both on the hospital and medical practice side of the business. His most recent role was vice present at Intermountain Healthcare where he oversaw the clinics, physicians and health plan subscribers in his region. His most notable achievements were developing a model medical staffing plan now utilized system wide and developing a new department to improve charge process and audit patient billing, resulting in a $9 million net revenue in the first year. Hanrahan has published several articles and received a Masters in Health Administration from Indiana University.

Thompson’s tenure in healthcare dates back to 1990, where she gained hands-on experience managing medical practices in multiple locations, outpatient hospital billing, medical coding and documentation, physician recruitment and onboarding, EHR implantation, and physician
compensation models. Her most recent role was as vice president and chief operating officer for a large and growing hospital-owned, multi-specialty practice network on the East Coast. Thompson joins the company as a network executive.

Halley adds, “We’ve built our success and reputation on our unique, customized approach to helping our clients and it has only served us well and positioned our company for exponential growth. We are thrilled to have Thomas and Penny as part of our team, contributing to this growth.”
