WESTERVILLE, OH, September 4, 2014 – Halley Consulting Group, a firm specializing in the strategic development and performance turnaround of hospital-owned medical practice networks and independent physician offices,has announced that Michael J. Ferry has been named president and chief operating officer. Marc D. Halley serves as its chief executive officer.

Previously the chief operating officer for Halley Consulting Group, Ferry’s expanded role will allow him to concentrate on growing the firm’s core business of providing interim practice management and consulting services for hospital-owned and independent physician practices.
As chief executive officer, Halley will transition from oversight of operations to a strategic focus on continuing to grow the firm and expanding service offerings, such as clinical integration and business innovation strategies for clients.
“Mike is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced executive who has provided integral leadership to Halley Consulting Group’s operations for the past several years as our chief operating officer. Michael J. Ferry, MPA
Michael Ferry, president and chief operating officer for Halley Consulting Group, has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years in varying leadership roles for both hospitals and physician networks. He has been engaged in physician practice development for 15 of those years, working both with Halley Consulting and serving as the lead operational executive for a large regional physician network affiliated with a national healthcare organization. As a Halley Consulting executive, Michael has worked with a full range of clients, including networks with more than 180 physicians. His projects have included interim management of medical practice networks, practice acquisition, network start-ups, and a full scope of consulting and implementation activity leading network growth and performance improvement. Engaging physicians and hospital executives in operational governance using the Halley Consulting governance model is a particular area of interest for Michael. Most recently, he worked with a Midwest region client to successfully apply for the CMS Innovation Center Bundled Payment Pilot around two specific episodes of care.
Prior to joining Halley Consulting Group in 2003, Michael served as senior vice president of operations for Star Staffing Services, Inc. in South Bend, Ind. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Master of Public Affairs degree and a certificate in Healthcare Management from Indiana University. He also was a contributor and co-editor of The Medical Practice Start-Up Guide, released by Greenbranch Publishing in August 2008.

Marc D. Halley, MBA
Marc Halley, chief executive officer for Halley Consulting Group, has provided management and consulting services to hospitals and medical practices for nearly 30 years and has worked with a variety of physician specialties, including hospital-owned medical practices across the United States. A frequently requested speaker, Marc addresses topics including governing boards, senior executives, physician groups and management teams. He has presented at events for national organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, Forum for Healthcare Strategists, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Medical Group Management Association, The Governance Institute, The Healthcare Roundtable and numerous state hospital associations.
Marc has authored and co-authored several articles that have been published in industry journals such as Trustee, Healthcare Financial Management, MGMA Connexion, Group Practice Journal and the Journal of Medical Practice Management. Marc also has been quoted in diverse publications – from the Los Angeles Times to Hospital Review, Physicians Practice and CMA Today. Marc’s first book, The Primary Care Market Share Connection: How Hospitals Achieve Competitive Advantage, was released by Health Administration Press in March 2007. Marc contributed to a three-volume set titled The Business of Healthcare, published in December 2007 (Cohn/Hough, editors, Praeger Perspectives, Greenwood Publishing Group). Marc also was a contributor and co-editor of The Medical Practice Start-Up Guide, released by Greenbranch Publishing in August 2008. American Hospital Association Press released his latest book entitled Owning Medical Practices: Best Practices for Sustainable Results, in January 2011.
A graduate of Weber State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, Marc also received a Master of Business Administration degree from Utah State University.
